The opportunity
Sailing is thrilling to sail — and historically hard to watch
For spectators, sail racing has long been one of the hardest sports to follow, understand and package commercially. That changed at the 2013 America's Cup, when onboard cameras, telemetry and real-time graphics turned complex tactics into an intuitive, dramatic spectator experience.
The technology matured through successive America's Cup campaigns and helped launch SailGP — sailing's globally-broadcast championship. But it stayed locked behind the budgets of the world's most heavily-funded events.
Our mission is simple: to make competitive sailing easier to understand, more exciting to follow, and accessible to a much wider audience.
From overlay to fully-rendered
A live digital twin of the race
In 2026 the technology took its next step: instead of relying entirely on live video and graphical overlays, the racecourse is reconstructed as a fully-rendered, real-time 3D world driven by live telemetry — a digital twin of the race.
That shift changes the economics of sailing media. By reducing dependence on helicopters, drones, chase boats and heavy TV infrastructure, a compelling broadcast can be produced at a fraction of the traditional cost.
We believe we can deliver 80–90% of the America's Cup viewing experience at a price local sailing clubs, federations and organizers can actually afford.
How it works
From a phone on the mast to a global broadcast
No specialist hardware. Ordinary Android smartphones, mounted and waterproofed on the competing boats, do the sensing and the filming. iPhone support is coming.
Capture on the boat
Mounted smartphones read GNSS, compass, gyroscope and accelerometer, and film onboard video — on every competing boat.
Stream over 4G / 5G
Live telemetry and video are transmitted to the cloud over standard mobile networks — no dedicated infrastructure on the water.
Render the race
A cloud engine rebuilds the regatta as a fully-rendered real-time 3D world: boats, marks, course boundaries and wind.
Broadcast anywhere
The feed — 3D view, onboard video and AI commentary — streams to web, mobile, broadcasters and venue screens.
AI commentary that explains the race
ViewRegatta's AI reads the race the way an umpire and a tactician would — reasoning over boat positions, tactical situations and the Racing Rules of Sailing.

The launch
Live at the Team Racing World Championship 2026
In central Stockholm, Gamla Stans Yacht Society (GSYS) — a two-time America's Cup challenger — hosts the World Sailing–sanctioned Team Racing World Championship on Riddarfjärden. High-intensity racing, short tactical courses and an urban shoreline: the ideal stage for live 3D visualization.

Regattify builds ViewRegatta
Regattify is the company; ViewRegatta is its product. A spin-off initiative originating from Gamla Stans Yacht Society, Regattify set out to democratize professional sailing coverage with a mobile-first telemetry and visualization platform.
The platform is in beta today, with its public debut at the Team Racing World Championship on 13–16 August 2026.
Founded by Martin Alsén, Ulf Ekstedt and Cindy Han — co-founders of Regattify AB.
